Subject: Non-IBM SCSI Drives in IBM Machines

OS Version: All

QUESTION: Will other SCSI drives work with the new IBM SCSI
machines and controllers?
ANSWER: Yes, some will. However, they are not officially
supported that way because IBM itself will not support
3rd party disk drives in their machines. One of my
customers has verified that the Micropolis 1588 SCSI
COMPSURF and is running fine in a Model 80. This was
under NetWare 386 v3.0 and not verified with the NetWare
286 driver.
